Cayman Academy celebrates Constant in Prayer

On Wednesday, April 6, Cayman Academy paused for the program “Constant in Prayer”, with Education Director Dr. Cheryl Rolle of ACUM.  Conference workers, parents, teachers and students came together for a special service at 8:30 a.m.  The President of the Conference, Pastor Eric D. Clarke, spoke to the theme “Walking in His Steps” using the story of Joshua and the walls of Jericho.  The school began a prayer initiative of praying for four students, a teacher and their families every day for the next 48 days until every individual in the school has been prayed for.  This initiative will end on 22 June 2011.

Immediately after the service Pastors and Bible workers met with individual classes to pray for each student and their families.  Other activities for the day included prayer every half hour by different classes for various institutions affiliated with the school, and for various professionals in the community.

At 1:00 p.m. teachers and students visited Windsor Park, a community near the school, to pray with and share literature with residents. Students enjoyed the activity and asked to participate in a similar programme in the future.   Some  student responses were “The day was spiritually fulfilling”, “I was motivated to witness for Jesus”, “the outreach programme was rewarding, and I would like to do it again”.   The day was truly a blessing to all.  We ask for your continuous prayers for the staff, students and parents of Cayman Academy.

Seminar

During her visit Dr. Rolle conducted a seminar with staff over a two day period.  She used the Rigor/Relevance Framework as the basis for the workshop.  The aim was to assist teachers in using higher level thinking skills in their teaching with the intention of improving teaching and learning in the classroom.
