Cayman Academy celebrated Reading Week from Monday October 10 to Friday October 14, 2011 at the school on Walkers Road. The week of activities under the theme “Reading is Fundamental” was declared opened by parent and local attorney Mrs. Keva Reid who injected some humour in her presentation with a video clip of teen pop idol Selena Gomez skilfully and adroitly demonstrating that reading is fundamental to health and safety. Using this as a launch for her discourse, Mrs Reid linked reading to learning, self- esteem and success.

Cayman Academy’s Spring Week of Prayer resulted in eleven students giving their hearts to Jesus in Baptism. Pastor Michael Henry, from the Northeast Jamaica Conference, was the speaker for the high school and Mrs. Roxanne Chambers, from the Willowdene Group of Schools, Central Jamaica Conference, was the speaker for the primary school.
It was an inspirational week for students and teachers. The Holy Spirit manifested Himself in a powerful way, using the speakers to present relevant messages for both age groups. From the smallest child to the oldest teen felt the presence of the Lord on the campus, as God spoke to their young hearts.
